Artwork I

The digital canvas

I still like using a pencil and paper better. I have more non-digital artwork, but those are not as easily placed on the web. Artwork done on the computer is nice because it is already in a digital format for a website or Powerpoint Presentation.

Another thing I like about computer artwork is no clean-up. After hours of work, there are no tools to put away, brushes to rinse, or paint left on a messy palette. Just close the program and the clean-up is done.

Digital artwork was all created with either Painter 5 or Photoshop.

  Rough Sea of Torment
Some abstract art. If I could draw what it looks like to fall asleep, this would be the start.
  Sleep (original)
Not satisfied with the original, I started over. This time with black guidelines and a darker color theme. When done, I liked the original better.
  Sleep (added guidelines)
Just a doodling that I ended up saving.
  A Hardhead
Selecting the red colors, I cut this half heart from a painting I made for a girl I once loved. Originally, an arrow filled the two white spaces in the heart.
  Splinter Removed
I seem to paint or photograph many sunset scenes.
  Open Road (original)
Lower half has a "out of focus" look - sun as the center. It gives a sense of motion, and draws the eyes to the red sun. Digital effect from Painter 5.
  Open Road (blurred)
One of the best sunsets I have seen was in Utah, after hiking in Arches Natn'l Park. I didn't have a camera so I was inspired to capture in a painting the colors I saw. The rocks are modeled after the ones I saw in that Utah desert. Cross added because of a metaphor I wrote.
